Using the Service

Underpaid is a crowdsourced salary transparency tool, jobs board, company-ratings layer, blog, and mentorship marketplace for professionals in India. You may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes such as comparing compensation, finding roles, rating companies you've worked at, reading our content, and booking 1:1 mentorship sessions. You agree to submit honest, good-faith data and to act in good faith in any session you book or deliver.

Data accuracy — no guarantees

All salary data and company ratings are crowdsourced from anonymous users and provided "as is." We do not verify individual submissions and make no warranty as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose. Figures and ratings are directional and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for financial, career, or hiring decisions. Job listings are aggregated from public sources and may be outdated, filled, or contain errors — always confirm details on the company's official application page.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, spam, or deliberately skewed salary or rating data.
• Scrape, copy, or bulk-extract data from the Service without permission.
• Attempt to de-anonymize submissions or identify individual users.
• Use automated means to overload, disrupt, or abuse the Service or its APIs.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to harass others.
• Impersonate someone else on a mentor profile, job posting, or review.

Job listings

Most listings are aggregated from companies' publicly available career pages and link to the official application. We are not the employer, do not process applications, and are not responsible for hiring outcomes. Recruiters who post jobs directly via /post-job are responsible for the accuracy of their listings; the operator reviews these before publishing. Companies, recruiters, or candidates can request removal of any listing.

Mentorship marketplace

Mentorship sessions are 1:1 conversations between an independent mentor and a mentee, arranged through the Service. Underpaid is not a party to the session and does not guarantee any specific outcome (a job, an offer, a raise, or any career result). Mentors are independent professionals — not employees or agents of HiringX.

Platform fee (20%)

When you book a session as a mentee, you pay the price the mentor has set. HiringX retains 20% of each session price as a platform fee to cover hosting, payment handling, vetting, support, and product development. The remaining 80% is paid out to the mentor. The price shown on a mentor's profile is the total mentee price — the platform fee is already included in it.

Mentor obligations

• Show up on time for every confirmed session, and treat mentees with respect.
• Provide accurate, good-faith information about your role, company, and experience on your profile.
• Do not share or publish anything a mentee tells you during a session.
• Do not solicit payment outside the Service to bypass the platform fee.

Mentee obligations

• Pay the booking price in full before the session.
• Show up on time and treat mentors with respect.
• Do not record, redistribute, or share session content without the mentor's explicit consent.

Refunds & cancellations

If the mentor is a no-show or the session cannot happen because of the mentor or a fault on our side, you get a full refund. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the slot, you get a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours, or no-shows by the mentee, are non-refundable. Refunds are processed back to your UPI account within 7 working days of approval. Refund requests can be made via the feedback page.

Reviews

Reviews submitted by mentees after a completed session are subject to admin moderation before being published. We may remove reviews that are abusive, defamatory, contain personal attacks, are spam, or that we reasonably believe to be fake. We do not edit the substance of legitimate reviews.

Content you submit

By submitting content to the Service — including salary data, company ratings, job posts, reviews, mentor profile details (bio, photo, expertise), and bookings — you grant HiringX a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, and use that content as needed to operate the Service. We may aggregate or anonymise submissions for analytics, statistics, and editorial use (e.g., on the blog).

Removal & moderation

We reserve the right to remove any submission, job listing, mentor profile, review, or rating that violates these terms or that we judge to be misleading, abusive, or harmful — without notice. Companies, individuals, or other affected parties can request removal of content via the removal request form or by contacting us.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HiringX and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, reliance on its data, or interactions with mentors, mentees, or recruiters through the Service.

Changes

We may update the Service and these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
